Safer Internet Day 2018

This year’s slogan is “Create, Connect and Share Respect: A better internet starts with you”. Our Digital Leaders took over in school assembly to raise awareness and share tips about keeping safe online. They also shared a message about using the internet respectfully and responsibly.

Parents can support and protect their children by staying up-to-date with the latest tech trends and popular apps. There are some videos on the school blog that some families may find informative to watch and on our school website on the parent page there is a tab named ‘E-safety’ which has links to a range of sites that have information and tips for parents that you may enjoy exploring. The more knowledge families have the more informed the decisions they are able to make about what they wish their children to be able to do on their devices.

One of the easiest ways to make sure children are safe online is by taking advantage of built-in parental controls and putting restrictions on location settings and whether children have public profiles. Encourage an environment where they can talk about things like cyberbullying and how to keep themselves safe online and ensure that they keep personal information private.

The messages set out by our Digital leaders will continue to be reinforced at school.
